EV SOUND FOR VIRGINIA CHURCH

Jim Hogan of Newcomb/IES reported: “We’ve built a strong working relationship with FHBC over the years, having done installs at some of their other facilities. When the time came to think about sound reinforcement for the new sanctuary, we started planning early to ensure they got exactly what they needed - a system that would allow them a new level of sonic performance and flexibility. We showed them other installations of this quality and stressed the advantage of working with EV and the Telex Communications family of brands to provide a seamless “total system’ approach from input to output. Working with Telex also has other added benefits - their tech support team is the best out there. We worked with Robert Deyarmond at EV, who made EASE models of the room, which helped us both precisely communicate with the acoustic consultants and give the decision-makers a visual confirmation of the Xi boxes as the right tools for the job.

“We’re using EV remote-control DSP amplifiers running IRIS-Net software for primary control and amp monitoring. This gives us full control for the different areas - mains, delays, under balcony and subs - from a single position. The system design came out so well that we eliminated all acoustical treatment and were able to achieve awesome speech intelligibility. That said, we managed to keep the room lively enough to please the Music Minister - the system gives us full control of the room, but it leaves the dynamics of live performance intact. The praise team has ten channels of RE2 Pro wireless with RE510 handheld condensers running into the Midas at FOH, so things are sounding good at every step in the signal path. The sound is superb and we’ve got lots of positive feedback from the congregation - it’s really given a lift to their whole worship experience.“
